I don't think good guilds are "hard" to find. It may take a little work, reading forums looking at websites, chatting with people maybe playing with them a bit. But you do have to know what you want in a guild and not compromise on that.

Maybe I am biased, I have been in two guilds, one I created with a friend (classic 2-man guild..lol) and the one I'm in now. If it weren't for the guild I am in now I probably would have stopped playing this game long ago.

I started a one man guild, which soon turned into a 4 man guild for my mates at school.

I disagree.Easier finding Black Dye in the guild hall then finding a good guild.I know there are some out there.Just not sure where.
I made my own Guild and have GH and storage.Yes it would be more fun to have a group of people who like to PVE and arent afraid to help each other out.Well besides Northwall or Ft.Ranik (SP).But I havent had the luck so I went solo.No recruiters playing guild tag..) No spam.Friendly helpful guild that PVE's and GVG's.No FF requirements. That is true till you join and then it is we expect so much faction, get your butt up to GVG.Doesnt matter that I always let recruiter know.I dont GVG or FF.Sorry forgot to give Rant warning...)Anyhow better to run solo and help others out when you can.

^Thank you for your in depth analysis on the subject...

I created my own guild 1) for the spam to stop and 2) To make a cape that I liked

This is an intersting thread. I have 2 accounts, and 2 guilds. My main account was me and a close personal friend. We started it just to have a cape and to keep people from begging us to join theirs. We have since grown to 9 members. The first joined for the same reason as our founding reason, to keep recruiters off them. Since then, he invited a friend, and the friend invited one, etc. As long as they are happy, then I let them be.

My second account is for my private time playing. My Guild is "Single Old Lazy One" [SOLO}. Again to keep the recruiters off me. I like to help people, but there are times when I want time to do 'my thing'. In my main account guild, OnlyUs [NotU], many want handouts, not help, and get a lil 'pissy' when I don't give. So I take a week off from 1 account and play the other. This way, I can work all 14 characters and keep the peace too.

I've been in a coupple of Guilds, the first one when i was a n00b, i was the most active person, the second one was ok (i only really joined to stop getting "Z0MG uR liek lVl 20... PWEZ PWEZ join mai guild!" messages...) they were a nice enough bunch, 'cept for the fact that i kinda like doing missions/quests on my own... i kinda got sick of the constant "let me help U!" or "PLZ Help mi!" messages (wow, what sounds so anti-social lol)

So i left and made my own 2 person guild - just my BF and I... we spent ages on the cape and are working on getting the hall we both like! It's really nice, our guild is like our characters home.

Great guilds to exist. I was part of one for some time. Sadly people got bored of waiting for factions to come out and decided to take time off gw. Well, most of them have now found interest in some other game.

I started my own 1 person guild. Bought a hall/npcs (mostly for the convenience) and cape. Invited a good friend to join me. I really enjoy playing without much of the drama that from my experience comes with being in a larger guild... especially one focused on pvp and like everyone else without being invited to join guilds I know nothing about. I do however miss hanging out with more people I know and can rely on. Miss the good times in pvp as well.

I have a 2-person guild. It started because the other member's daughter wanted a cape on the ele she'd gotten to name. So he created a cape and then a guild and invited me to join. We had a third member for a while, but he stopped playing the game, so after 4 months of not logging on, we kicked him.

Another one joined and left after a few months, mainly due to time zone differences. I don't actively recruit because I don't want to spend my game time settling guild problems.

Both of us have Prophecies and Factions and, between us, we have 14 level 20 characters spread across all the professions (except I don't have an ele or sin). We've recently added some NPCs to the hall, because I got tired of running around cities looking for the ones I wanted. We use TS when we are both on whether we are gaming together or separately. It helps when you can complain to a real person without annoying the party with whom you are doing a quest or mission. (I have a thing about MMs lack of control of their minions.)

So I enjoy my small guild and, if it grows, it will be accidental.

Small guilds are great! We've had a 4-player guild since Prophecies launched. And I think the alliance feature has made it better. We have had various alliances with small guilds (2-players, 6-players, etc.). Sometimes they fade away without warning but we just pick up another. It lets you keep your personal guild and still have a few folks out there to PvE with.

I have the same problem. I'm in a guild and I help others, then I asks for some kind of help and no response. It makes me feel like I am guildless. I just want a mature guild that is helpful and actually does something together, like farming.

One thing though is that we can form a guild right here, searching for people who want the same expectations for their guilds. Why not?!

YEa i did the same thing, and now my guild is 12 ppl with 4 alliance members, from just screing around, i mean lots of stuff happens, but yea, i wouldn't suggest trying to start your own serious guild, cuz you have to be pretty good to make one grow, so only start ur own guild if you want it to stay small unless you're amazing and willing to spend a lot of time helping ppl out

I formed a 3-man guild for a couple friends and I, tired of the immaturity of larger guilds. We are open to more people, but since I want to keep the guild small, mature, fun, etc., I'm very picky. >.>

Edit: Also 'cause I wanted a beaver cape. Hellzyaus.

With the introduction of hero's, for the PvE'r this is a more viable option than ever. So fewer people group with other's anymore in PvE there's little point being in a PvE guild. If you're a PvP person a guild is still the way to go. Heroway in HA or even worse PuG'ing just is no substitute for a guild group.

After my guild switched guild halls to Wizard's Isle, I joked about making my own guild just so I could fulfill my lifelong dream of having Isle of the Dead for once. After joking about it though, I got thinking, and then decided on actually doing it. My main account is still in the same guild, my other account owns the guild I made, and I guest myself to spend time there. I also used it to let me AB for the other side.

Hopefully I can soon conn the rest of the alliance to get my vanity guild in, to get the best of all worlds - great hall, great cape, the egotistical glow of being the leader, but still the benefit of good grouping.

In my "guild" there are only 2 members and those are myself and a long time friend of mine. I dont want to be part of any larger guild, because it feels like that everybody i encounter in this game, are immature little kids who dont do anything else but swear at every sentence they make. Or people just are so unfriendly if you dont know what some word like FoW, PUG or aggro mean.

But it feels that i am too unlucky with human contacts in this game. Some people have made many friends playing this game. I have made only one in my 12 month playing period.

I imagine this is a common thing - there are a lot of people not happy with their guild, and a lot of people who have no idea what your average guild is like. I think I'd be doing the same thing if I didn't have my current guild.

I'm in a small guild that's mostly family and friends. We're a casual guild, we don't put requirements on people, everyone can be themselves, and no one really pesters other people (we have forums for people to ask for help, but most of our people are really independant). Honestly, I think it's underestimated how great a small quiet or even 1 man guild can be. I'd tried spending some time in another more "active" guild, and I felt like I couldn't cut loose or be myself because people would get offended. So I stick with my group of people who just... well aren't easily offended.

And in a one man guild, you only have yourself to offend.
